5 Helpful Tips For Planning an Exciting Weekend Vacation

Planning an exciting long vacation is less challenging for two reasons. First off, your options aren’t limited due to the duration. You can decide to visit the Bahamas, spend a week at a fancy hotel in Dubai, or go surfing in Costa Rica. No rush! Secondly, you can hop from one continent to another without thinking about sitting on your office desk the following Monday.

However, things are quite different when planning a weekend vacation. Unlike long vacations, weekend vacations are short, but the truth is, they can be exciting if you plan well. Here are five ways to plan an exciting weekend vacation.

1. What Type of Trip Do You Want?

Before selecting a destination for your weekend vacation, it makes sense to sit down and think. What are your travel goals? Why do you want to visit a particular destination? Do you want to de-stress, have fun, or both? Or do you want to visit a location you've always dreamed of?

When planning a weekend vacation, don’t select a location impulsively. Instead, think about the kind of trip you are hoping for. This will help you narrow down your options. Afterward, you can select a destination in line with what you hope to achieve with your vacation.

2. Select a destination and be flexible about it

After you have figured out the type of trip you want, including the time you wish to travel, what next? First, you'll have to think about where you want to go. When selecting a destination for your weekend getaway, don't restrict your mind due to the timeframe, instead, keep your mind open.

Rather than go with the usual, which can be boring sometimes, you can consider visiting Bike-friendly vacation spots where you get to tour an area on a bike in the company of family, friends, or other groups of people. Search the internet for great travel ideas that can make your short getaway thrilling and memorable.

3. Bring a travel buddy.

Traveling as a lone ranger may seem like a great idea at first. However, things can get boring quickly when you arrive at your destination, especially if you are the social type. So, rather than strike out on your own, you should consider bringing a travel buddy (your partner or friends) along to spice your vacation. Good company will always make your vacation memorable, fun, and eventful.

4. Plan your Stay

After figuring out your vacation destination, you'll need to find good accommodation. Finding a suitable accommodation, especially one that suits your taste and budget, is key to enjoying your weekend getaway. Since you won't be staying for long, it's best to make your accommodation location your top priority.

Here are some tips to help you select the right travel accommodation.

Beach Vacation: If you plan on going on a beach vacation, consider finding accommodation near the beach, so you don't have to stress yourself journeying from your rented apartment to the beach.

Romantic Vacation: To enjoy a memorable romantic vacation, consider staying in a comfortable suite in a 4+ star hotel or villa.

Family Vacation: If you are traveling with family or friends, it makes sense to book an apartment-style hotel or Airbnb so your kids can play around. Such apartments are ideal for individuals traveling in groups.

City Break: If you decide to go on a city break weekend vacation, we advise that you rent an apartment near the main attraction so you won't have to depend on public transport.

The goal of a vacation, be it a weekend or a three-week vacation, is to wind down, have fun, and de-stress. So, when planning a weekend vacation, don't let the time factor limit your ideas. Go out there and have fun. You deserve it!
